One of the best things about Steven Universe is how infinitely re-watchable the entire series is. But now that Steven and the Crystal Gems are uncovering new truths about the Diamonds, the primary but mysterious antagonist of the show, watching it from the beginning is a completely different experience. There have always been layers upon layers to the larger story that Steven Universe is telling, but the recent arcs building up to what feels like the series finale have revealed a whole host of shocking details that complicate the story even more. Every Rose Quartz was personally poofed and bubbled, trapped in their gems, for the rest of perpetuity, by Pink Diamond. So knowing that Rose and Steven actually have the abilities of an almighty Diamond, it suddenly makes sense that they can do a lot more than summon weapons and whatnot.
Every run of Steven Universe Beach City episodes gets followed by some climactic events tearing open part of our understanding of the broader Steven Universe mythos. Is this what you were expecting? It feels inevitable that Lapis will show up during a climactic moment of confrontation toward the end of the season, so her abandonment of Steven still feels like an inevitable step on a path toward the more-stable conclusion of her longer arc—think Peridot stealing the Diamond communication device from the moon base, but a little less funny and slightly less compelling. As often happens on this show, though, the relative levity goes out the window as soon as Steven has a vision of the Diamonds. With those five words, Steven Universe confirms a long-standing fan theory—that Rose Quartz was, in fact, Pink Diamond—and opened the door to a whole bunch of new questions.
Originally in charge of Earth's colonization, she took the form of a Rose Quartz after her fellow Diamonds refused to allow her to abandon the colony and spare the life on the planet. Pink Diamond had pink skin, magenta eyes with diamond-shaped pupils, and shoulder-length yet large, fluffy pale pink hair. She also appeared to wear lipstick. Her gemstone was located on her navel and displayed in a large pentagon-shaped opening, being an inverted-side view of a round-cut diamond. She also wore a small pink and white skirt, short puffy rose-pink pants, white stockings and a pair of pink slippers with white pom poms floating over each of them.
That is all. Pink Diamond is a major posthumous antagonist and character in Steven Universe. She is a former member of the Great Diamond Authority who decided to turn Earth into a colony for Homeworld. However, it is later revealed that, after coming to admire Earth's life and people, she decided to turn against the interests of Homeworld to protect it. Upon doing this, she faked her death and took up the identity of Rose Quartz ; one of the main protagonists of the series and the mother of the titular character.
