Baptism and Christening are the two concepts that are often linked with Christianity. Baptism is moreover is specifically a Christianity ritual or sacrament that is followed by Christians. According to various Christian Gospels, Jesus was baptized by water. It is the phenomena in which people often pour water or kneel underwater and even submerge full body inside the water to get baptized. It is a kind of purification of soul and body. On the other hand, christening is the phenomena of naming the newborn baby while baptizing him or her at the same time inside the church. In various regions baptizing only is referred as christening.

Baptism vs Christening Baptism is a Christian ceremony in which a few drops of water are sprinkled on somebody or they are covered with water to welcome them into the Christian Church and often to name them. Baptism may include pouring water three times on the forehead of the person being inducted into the Church or having the person take a dip in a water tank. It symbolizes a new birth through water. Christening is when a baby is officially named and welcomed into the Christian Church. Christening may or may not be part of a Baptism ceremony.
