Proponents of "cold therapy" say that cold showers are a free way boost your immune system, energy, and productivity. Improving any one of those metrics, much less all of them at once, would obviously help with one's overall life satisfaction.

The 30 day cold shower challenge has become of the most popular challenges of the summer and since there are quite a few benefits related to this challenge I too decided to take the plunge. The cold water challenge tells you to take a cold shower every day for a month. Taking a shower every day also means waisting a lot of water, instead take a shower every other day. This will again prevent waisting water. The first couple of times my hart was racing but I just tried to take a deep breath. I have a huge issue with waisting water so this was definitely something important for me. Taking cold showers in the morning made me feel invincible and ready to take on the day.

Every time you exert your willpower — making a decision, handling a crisis, or avoiding a temptation — you are drawing on limited reserves. Studies have shown that if you find yourself exerting extra willpower, you have a greater chance of giving up on something else later in the day. Baumeister created an experiment where participants were brought into a room with 2 plates, a plate of cookies and a plate of radishes. Some participants were asked to eat the cookies, and some to eat the radishes. The ones who ate the radishes, and had to exert self-control to keep from eating the cookies, gave up an average of 8 minutes later. The cookie-eaters persevered much longer, for an average of 19 minutes. Using your willpower to make a decision, the Ego Depletion theory goes, reduces your reserves of willpower.
