They've got songs that people pay good money to hear, and then there's that other bunch of deeper, lesser-known songs that casual concertgoers might view as a good time to make a restroom run. But Mayer said it's different for him, in that his fans place equal significance on all his music, giving him an artistic freedom for which he's very grateful. But for the most part, the Pittsburgh faithful equally weighted their enthusiasm for each of Mayer's 27 selections. And why not? Each of those songs sounded superb, showcasing Mayer's easy-to-enjoy voice and tasteful guitar playing and slaying backed by a tight eight-member band flitting effortlessly from bluesy to jazzy pop-rock and rock. If you didn't climb on board the Mayer train until he teamed up with Grateful Dead alums several years ago, well, you got plenty to savor with Mayer's Pittsburgh performance.
Whenever he is in town, the crowds come flocking. He was in town a mere two months ago as part of the Dead and Company tour, which hosted two nights at Wrigley Field. This time he is back with his own tour. The set was heavy on songs taken from his album, Continuum , as well as a healthy dose taken from Born and Raised. On this tour, the show is split into two sets, with no opener, so make sure you get there on time to catch the whole show. This is a show jam-packed with incredible musicianship, not just from Mayer himself, but from the extensive band accompanying him on stage. Mayer would often step back to let Sharkey take the spotlight.

You can almost smell the soul in it. It's marvellous to hear him in almost silence, without a choir of thousands distorting the experience. So in a tactile way he doesn't enjoy it anymore, and has to carry the melody along other branches he can reach.
Columbia City Forecast. Ten musicians took the stage for three hours. He was a man of few words — outside the songs he was singing accompanying his guitar mastery - for the first 10 songs. Vultures, from his Continuum album, was next with his well-known hit, No Such Thing to follow. While Mayer is well-known for his emotional, coffee-shop vibe and songs to swell the heart, he and his concert band really rocked out at times. Queen of California led to Edge of Desire before a short intermission.

John Mayer at Rod Laver Arena. When you have a bad day — and on Wednesday my wife had one of those days — you look for a tonic of some sort. Maybe a vodka tonic. Maybe a hug. Or maybe a reliable source of relentless positivity, like the music of John Mayer.

John Mayer has never lacked confidence, but Monday night at St. Instead, he just played his music and played it quite well. Mayer and the surviving members of the Grateful Dead save for bassist Phil Lesh formed Dead and Company in and have since toured six times, with more dates to come and possibly new music. The experience clearly rubbed off on Mayer, who skipped an opening act and offered two sets with an intermission. After the intermission, Mayer returned to the stage for three acoustic songs with minimal backing. By Ross Raihala rraihala pioneerpress.
